Margaret Throsby

Margaret Throsby, AM has presented ABC Classic FM's Morning Program for over 12 years. She has interviewed thousands of notable people throughout her career. Since joining the ABC in 1967 she has overcome major barriers to the accepted roles for women in broadcasting.In 1975 she became the first woman to read national radio news, and in 1978 was the first woman to present national television news.
Accolades for her achievements include Member of the Order of Australia (for Services to Broadcasting, 1989), a Variety Club of Australia's Radio Award, Two Avion Awards for the 'Best in the World' in-flight audio programs (Qantas), a Golden Gavel Award presented by the Law Society of NSW for Excellence in Legal Reporting, a Children's Week Award Media Award and Rostrum Speaker of the Year.
A list of Margaret's guests reads like a Who's Who of Australians and visitors from abroad. Some of this amazing gathering from the past 15 years include Lord Yehudi Menuhin, Oliver Sacks, Patricia Routledge, Dr Tim Flannery, the Hon Paul Keating, Claire Bloom, John le Carre, Victoria de los Angeles, Spike Milligan, Steve Waugh, Rolf Harris, Jane Fonda, Cate Blanchett, and Bruce Beresford.
