Ross Edwards, Composer
One of Australia's best-known composers, Ross Edwards' distinctive sound world combines shapes and patterns drawn from nature with a variety of musical resources which reflect and celebrate Australia's cultural diversity. His ideal of music as a positive and regenerative force brings qualities such as lightness, spontaneity and the impulse to dance.
Recent works include The Heart of Night for the shakuhachi and 5th Symphony for the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
His work Dance Mantras was premiered at Four Winds. His Dance Fanfare for brass, Water Spirit Song for cor anglais and Tyalgum Mantra for Four Winds Philharmonia will also be played on Saturday. He will also take part in Sounds Amazing!, a round table discussion with the other composers with Margaret Throsby on Friday Afternoon.
